Overview
Jopus Connecter is a platform provided by Goalist Co., Ltd. that matches foreigners who want to work in Japan with companies looking to hire foreign talent. Since its launch in June 2021, over 200 foreign job seekers have registered.
At the time, the challenge was that there was uncertainty about the demand for a service that could address issues such as language barriers during the selection process leading to mismatches in hiring. To resolve this, our company facilitated user interviews. The insights gained from these interviews were applied to the product planning and development. Additionally, since this is a foreign recruitment platform, we also made the site pages multilingual for foreign job seekers.
Customer Feedback
Yoichi Takanashi
Executive Officer, Global HR Division
Goalist Co., Ltd.
Reason for the Order
Mr. Takanashi: "Since 2018, the Global HR Division has mainly been involved in foreign recruitment services. However, in March 2020, the business was scaled down due to the impact of COVID-19. With the post-COVID era in mind, we anticipated that the foreign recruitment market would become active again in the second half of 2021 as international relations improved. This led us to consider launching a matching service at this opportune time."
Challenges and Observations
Mr. Takanashi: "The main challenge was balancing the schedule with quality. If the deadline is pushed too hard, quality may drop in some areas, but we didn't fully understand the extent of this at first. Since we proceeded with the timeline as a priority, there were quite a few bugs in the beta release (laughs). However, there were no critical issues, and in the following month, we released updates continuously, making significant progress."
What We Are Satisfied With
Mr. Takanashi: "The first thing is that we formed a project team with a multinational group. The team included a Dutch director, Malaysian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Indian designers, which allowed us to develop the service with a perspective focused on foreign job seekers. This was also important for making the site multilingual. The second thing was the involvement of team members outside the project team. Having team members from various departments (such as the design department for designers) review the service from a third-party perspective allowed us to regularly take a step back and look at the service."
Designer’s Feedback
Since Jopus Connecter targets both companies and job seekers, we paid attention to the perspectives of each user group. For the company-facing landing page (LP), we chose colors that convey a sense of seriousness, trustworthiness, and style, in addition to the orange color associated with Jopus. For the job seeker-facing LP, we selected colors to convey a sense of friendliness and warmth. Although the colors are different for each user group, we unified the layout to create a visual cohesion between the two.
Additionally, we carefully considered the UI after finalizing the functions, using icons to make it easier for users to compare individual candidates and selecting font colors thoughtfully. We focused on keeping the interface as simple as possible to avoid confusing users. Moving forward, we will continue to improve the UI/UX design based on user feedback to provide a better service.

Engineer’s Feedback
Since the platform supports both Japanese and English, we focused on ensuring quick response times when switching between languages. We implemented the service using Angular, a framework developed by Google. Angular has abundant documentation and tutorials, making it easy to improve UI/UX. Compared to React, Angular is more robust, precise, and less prone to individual customization, which is helpful for continuous improvement.
