Kanazawa Transport Co., Ltd. was established in 1961 and changed to its current company name in 1964, now celebrating its 60th anniversary.

The company offers a wide range of transportation services, including charter and regular delivery, with the flexibility to accommodate both fixed and recurring delivery schedules. In addition, they handle industrial waste disposal, unwanted item collection, temporary storage services for general cargo, and office relocation services. Notably, they own their own warehouse in Tokyo, making it easy for clients within the city to visit and preview the temporary storage facilities.

Recently, the company decided to develop a new system from scratch as a core component of their business in the "sales and development of applications specialized in the staffing industry." This system aims to streamline temporary staffing operations. The development was entrusted to HumAIn, and we interviewed them about the development process, the background of the project, and their thoughts on the completed system, “IN Clouse.”

A Transportation Company Striving to Be Overflowing with “Thank You”

Please tell us about your company’s services and unique characteristics.

Handa: Our core theme is “people.” We aim to build deep relationships of trust with our clients and engage in a wide range of business ventures. Among them, the transportation of heavy and precision equipment is currently our main business. One of our most popular services is office and company relocations, which has been expanding in scale year after year. We at Kanazawa Transport value gratitude towards all clients and strive to constantly improve ourselves to adapt to changes in the times.

Even the word “work” has many interpretations. Our company’s philosophy is not simply about business expansion or profit but centers around the idea that “people are assets.” We emphasize what one can learn in life through working.

Driving is a skill that holds great importance for many people, and we consider the process of acquiring this skill on the job to be a valuable part of lifelong learning. Our approach treats work not just as tasks, but as a curriculum for a richer life—this is a defining feature of our company.

We understand your company has two group companies. Could you introduce them?

Handa: The first is “Gold Tree Inc.,” which provides rental greenery services for corporations. Established in July 2023, we act as a “green space producer,” offering rental services for various plants including indoor foliage. The company was founded as a response to environmental concerns in the transportation industry, such as emissions during deliveries. Now that more companies are returning to offices post-pandemic, we’re seeing increasing demand for indoor and outdoor greenery installations. Our trained staff handle daily maintenance, so clients can use the service with confidence.

The second is “Gold BaaS Inc.,” which provides application sales and development services specialized in the staffing industry. In partnership with HumAIn, we developed a system from scratch to streamline temporary staffing, called “IN Clouse,” and this system is now the foundation of our services aimed at supporting staffing agencies.

Please tell us about your current role and brief career background.

Handa: I originally worked at a staffing agency. I joined Kanazawa Transport through a fortunate career change and started out as a kind of internal “jack-of-all-trades.” Although the industry was entirely different, I focused on honest communication with every employee and tried many things. I spent a significant amount of time on vehicle dispatching operations, which greatly affect the efficiency of our transport business.

Thanks to my experience and approach to work, I am now serving as the President and CEO of “Gold BaaS Inc.,” one of our group companies.

Starting System Development from Scratch to Streamline Staffing Operations

Could you tell us about the situation when you decided to develop “IN Clouse”?

Handa: Our main business is transportation, but we view business merely as a means. Our company culture encourages employees to regularly propose new ventures without being restricted to specific industries.

As I mentioned, I come from the staffing industry, and I’ve long been aware that the process of matching job seekers with staffing agencies hasn’t changed in the past 15–16 years.

In other words, the path from a job seeker beginning their job search to actually starting work at a staffing agency remains outdated. Depending on the individual, some want to start working as soon as possible, yet the process takes considerable time.

Typically, staffing agencies first register the job seeker’s information, then match them with job postings or introduce jobs directly. This initial registration to job matching takes about a week.

Then comes the face-to-face meeting between the candidate and the client. If expectations align, an employment contract is signed, and work begins. But things don’t always proceed smoothly—additional time is often required.

Even before applying, job seekers go through steps like selecting a staffing agency, pre-registering, attending a registration event, taking skill assessments, and undergoing personal interviews. These steps consume a lot of time and effort.

Given the many steps between registration and actual employment, speeding up the hiring process is a critical issue for staffing agencies. These steps can feel like “waiting time” for job seekers, so efficiency is vital.

That’s why we believed that digitizing and streamlining the process through DX (digital transformation) would improve internal operations, provide better visibility, and reduce labor costs. We were confident this presented a business opportunity, leading us to develop a core system for the business.

Why did you ultimately choose HumAIn as your development partner?

Handa: We were drawn to the people at HumAIn! We had nearly decided to go with another company, but we reached out to HumAIn just for one last point of comparison. Originally, our meeting with them was more about gathering final information, but we were impressed by their people and decided to change direction.

Their values closely aligned with ours, and we realized that effective and comfortable communication is key in system development. That led to our decision. As a side note, switching to HumAIn meant adjusting the development timeline, which ended up being pushed back. But we have no regrets—they’ve been excellent partners throughout the process.

Thank you. How did you feel about working with our team during the actual development process?

Handa: This was my first experience leading a system development project, so I was unfamiliar with many of the technical aspects. However, the product manager from HumAIn was very clear and straightforward in their communication, which made it easy for me to understand everything without confusion.

Even when I wanted to dig deeper into the reasoning behind certain decisions, they took the time to explain things thoroughly in a way that made sense to us. Thanks to that, I was able to fully grasp the situation and make informed decisions without misunderstanding anything.

Also, I really appreciated how proactive the HumAIn team was. They constantly made suggestions from their side, always keeping in mind the goal of building a great product. That level of initiative was extremely valuable.

System Release = The Start of a New Service!

How satisfied are you with the finished product, “IN Clouse”? How did it align with your expectations?

Handa: I’m very satisfied! I truly appreciate the HumAIn team for being great partners. IN Clouse provides a fast and efficient way for job seekers to connect with employers and supports the overall optimization of staffing operations. Of course, I don’t consider the current version to be 100% complete. On the contrary, I see the release as the actual start of the service. While we are still on the path to our ideal, I’m relieved that we’ve reached this milestone.

What are your expectations and future plans for IN Clouse?

Handa: As the core service of Gold BaaS Inc., and a system to streamline staffing operations, we aim to implement gradual and effective updates. Our strength lies in offering detailed support, which large companies often cannot provide. We primarily serve small and medium-sized businesses, making use of our close client relationships. We will leverage the insights gained from our clients to improve IN Clouse continuously. Starting small, we intend to grow steadily by building trust with our users.

Lastly, what are your future prospects for your company’s services?

Handa: At Kanazawa Transport Co., Ltd., we put people first and focus on warehouse and transport operations. To become a company that lasts 100 years, it’s vital that all three group companies continue sincere and persistent efforts to satisfy our customers. We strive to refine ourselves and be a needed presence in society. Management emphasizes employee development and creating the right environment, while employees take initiative in learning, creating a fast-paced internal education cycle.

At the same time, we’re expanding into entirely new business fields to provide more opportunities for each individual to thrive. We aim to be a company that gives everyone a chance to challenge themselves. Staying true to our corporate philosophy of “Learning Together, Thriving Together,” the Kanazawa Transport Group will continue growing significantly by using each business as a means to support individual success.
